Photographic exhibition «Arno Fischer · FOTOGRAFIE»
With the retrospective exhibition devoted to the work of Arno Fischer, the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) continues its successful series on German photography and pays homage to one of the most significant German photographers. Arno Fischer is also a highly respected photography teacher whose classes in Leipzig, Berlin and Dortmund have shaped three generations of photographers in both East and West Germany. Following on the exhibition of Sibylle Bergemann, this exhibition and its accompanying catalogue provide the opportunity to explore the work of an artist who is widely regarded as a seminal figure of East German photography. Arno Fischer’s work also featured prominently in the exhibition Status Reports – German Photography from the 1950s to the 1980s in East and West which ifa put together and toured as early as 1992.
